Hi, you definitely made some valid points as to why seniors staying at home are better off than those that stay in a nursing home. The two points that strike me the most is the fact that they are comfortable with their environments, religious family, and friend which is a very good source of happiness and healing and the other one is that hospitals are traumatizing! You may wake the next day and found out the person next you just died, and what could be more traumatizing than that?

    Thanks for a read.

      Hi Nnamdi,
I can’t think of anything more traumatizing than waking up next to a loved one that past away. Whether you’re old or not! With that said, yes it is very important for elders to be familiar with their surroundings. They will be more happier for it. Thanks for the comments.

My mom wanted to go to a home especially after she became incontinent. This is too much to ask of a spouse to do at home. Or even pay for someone else to do it. Once your mobility and your ability to go to the washroom is gone, staying home is no longer practical. But yes stay as long as you physically can. Thanks for this.
    Cheers, Peter

      Hi Peter,
There comes a point where it is too difficult to take care of someone at home. Especially if the health of the individual is at a point where you need to be close to medical treatment. That seems like the case for your mother, I hope she is doing well. Thanks of the comments, cheers!
